Bob Lawrence

Executive Director

Bob Lawrence graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 1971 with a Major in English and a Minor in Physical Education. He has his Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as Educational Leadership and Administration. He started his teaching career at Cabrillo High School in 1972. He taught English for 33 years and then went into administration for 5 years holding positions as Athletic Director, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Administrator.  He coached water polo and swimming for 33 years and was an Assistant Varsity baseball coach for 2 years. He was CIF Water Polo Coach of the Year after guiding the Cabrillo Boys Water Polo team to the 2nd CIF title in school history.

Dan Duffy

Assistant Director

Dan graduated from Cabrillo High School in 1974 where he swam and played water polo for Coach Lawrence. While attending Loyola Marymount University he was a 4-year letterman and 2-year team Captain for the LMU Lions Water Polo team. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 1978 he returned to Lompoc and was an assistant coach for the boy’s water polo team and head coach of the Freshman Basketball team. In 1983 he was hired by the Santa Barbara County Sheriffs Department as a Corrections Officer. He retired in 2014 after 30+ years with the Department his last assignment was as a Detective Background Investigator recruiting and vetting applicants for positions with the Sheriffs Department. At the time of his retirement, he was the President of the CBIA California Background Investigators Association. While employed at the Sheriffs Department he continued his coaching career at Cabrillo with positions with the Boys Water Polo program, the Boys Basketball Program and the Girls Basketball Program spanning parts of 5 different decades. His son Danny is a professional baseball player with 11+ years in the Major Leagues with the Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Texas Rangers.

Dan Troup

Committee Member

Dan is a 1978 graduate of Cabrillo High. He was a Varsity letterman in Basketball and All-League Honorable mention as a Senior. After graduating Dan Attended San Diego State University and earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Marketing. In 1988 he earned a K-8 teaching Credential from Chapman University and followed that up with a single subject credential in Physical Education.  From 1988 to 2010 Dan taught Physical education at Vandenberg Middle School and coached tennis at Cabrillo High School. While teaching at VMS he earned a Masters Degree in 1995 in Curriculum and Administration from Chapman University. In 2010 he was hired as the Athletic Director at Cabrillo a position he held until 2019. While in the position as A.D. among his greatest accomplishments was spearheading the resurfacing and upgrade of the Cabrillo gym floor and establishing the Boys Volleyball program. He retired in 2019 after 34 years of service in the Lompoc Unified School District. 

Kent Yankee

Committee Member

Kent is a 1998 graduate of Cabrillo High School. Kent grew up an avid runner and competed on the Cabrillo cross country team and the track team. In his Senior year he finished 10th at the California State Cross Country Championships.  Kent continued his passion for running but opted to concentrate on his college studies and ran for health and enjoyment. Kent graduated from Cal Poly SLO in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. On his return to the Lompoc Valley, he became an active member of the Lompoc Valley Distance Club hosting races to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for the community. One of his biggest projects annually is to keep the memory of his mentor Dr. John Trettin alive with fundraising and organizing the Trettin Run that raises money to fund college scholarships for local high school students since his college graduation Kenty has been employed by MNS Engineering where he is now the Lead Engineer in the Government Services Division providing civil engineering services to agencies and municipalities throughout the Central Coast.

Brianne Jory

Student Committee Coordinator

Brianne attended Tokay High School in Lodi, California and graduated in 1991. After high school she attended Sonoma State University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 1995. Brianne moved to the Central Coast to continue her studies at Cal Poly SLO. While working towards her Masters degree she gained employment at Cabrillo High School working with students through the local Kleinbottle organization. In 1998 she completed her Masters Degree in Counseling and Pupil Personnel Service. Brianne worked one year at Cabrillo Middle School in Ventura and then secured a fulltime counseling position at Cabrillo High in Lompoc in 1999. Brianne has 25 years’ experience at Cabrillo and is now the Lead Counselor at the school as well as being an Adjunct Professor with Brandman University and now UMASS Global teaching Masters courses in their schools Counseling Programs.

Franky Caldeira

Treasurer

Franky Caldeira graduated from Cabrillo High School in 2011 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Management with a Minor in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Merced in 2015, and his Master's in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from Brandman University/UMass Global in 2022. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of California. He currently works as the Accounting Manager of Brands and Consolidations at Deckers Outdoor Corporation and owns and operates his own firm, Caldeira CPA. Prior to working at Deckers, he worked as an Assurance Associate at PwC for two and a half years. He has been a member of the Lompoc Unified School District's Board of Education since February 2022 and has served as its President since December 2022

Gail Trettin

Secretary

Gail and her late husband Dr. John Trettin were highly respected members of the Lompoc Community and were active in many different clubs and organizations but left an indelible mark on the Lompoc Valley Distance Club, a running organization that promoted friendly competitive running events and a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Trettin tragically lost his life in a bicycle accident but his wife has carried on the family legacy and has remained active in events in the Lompoc community helping to coordinate a running competition in her husband’s memory that raises funds for college scholarships for local students.
